Starmer Rejects Trump’s Iran Regime-Change Plan
The current Prime Minister of the UK, Keir Starmer, has dismissed the idea of toppling the current Iranian government set by President Trump, arguing that the British government "does not believe in regime change from the skies." The British government tried to distance itself from the "mistakes of Iraq" by first denying the United States the right to use British bases for offensive strikes against Iran. However, after the Iranian drone attacks on British forces, the British government has agreed to allow the United States to launch "defensive" strikes against Iran from British bases. This has created a political storm within the United Kingdom, with some accusing the British government of either being too weak an ally to the United States or supporting an illegal war.
